The DSM criteria for ADHD don’t adequately describe the behaviors and challenges of adults, especially women, nor do they include information on emotional functioning, cognitive issues, or executive functioning in adults. This seminar summarizes the research on what adult ADHD really looks like.

This workshop covers the functional challenges of adult ADHD, along with effective therapeutic approaches to them. We review why it is so difficult for adult with ADHD to develop healthy habits, and some ways to address this.

Any doctoral level psychologist can learn how to effectively assess Adult ADHD with instruments that are easy to administer, score and interpret. Important instruments for assessment are reviewed, as well as topics to cover in the clinical interview. No training in neuropsychology needed!

For the clinician who wants true expertise in adult ADHD! This in-depth group meets biweekly for one hour for 6 weeks. There is one hour of reading assigned for each meeting from my book Could It Be Adult ADHD? A Clinician’s Guide to Recognition, Assessment, and Treatment. Part of the group meeting is a brief presentation relating to the reading and the rest of the meeting is group discussion, questions and brief case presentations.

Women are underdiagnosed with ADHD as girls and as adults. This seminar will help you understand their unique diagnostic issues, symptom pictures, and emotional challenges.
